Ponderosa Pet Resort is the premier dog training facility in North Texas. Together, Dennis and Bryan, our professional trainers, have more than 50 years of experience in obedience training and helping dog owners understand and manage dogs with aggressive traits and behaviors.

Our methods are tried and true and work well with all breeds and sizes of dogs. Our training methods make for happy dogs that work out of loyalty and respect, not fear. We tailor our training style to each individual case to achieve the best possible result.

As a police officer, Dennis spent more than 18 years as a handler and trainer at the police department. He has had the opportunity to train and work with hundreds of dogs and their handlers for other departments in Texas and around the country.

Bryan has trained dogs as well as marine mammals in Texas and overseas for more than 25 years. Bryan has been working for Ponderosa for 3 years and loves his job.

BASIC OBEDIENCE  TRAINING

Board your pet while we train in a one-on-one environment. Basic obedience with your pets is established for you. Heel, sit, down, and stay commands are taught by our trainer who has more than 20 years of training with a background in police and K9 units. Build your dog’s character and desire to please. Upon completion, you will receive a private lesson with your dog and the trainer. This is an obedience package that will help you gain control of your dog in any situation. Basic obedience is the foundation for having a good relationship with your dog. This is a 4-6 week program.

Includes basic obedience:

  • Heeling with automatic sit

  • Focus drills to increase attention level

  • Waiting to go through doors until given command to do so

  • Down command

  • Basic recall

  • Distraction training

  • Exercise barking control
